Bude MOT 1

We can allocate you a courtesy car if booked in advance. Please mention this when you book your MOT so we can reserve a vehicle. The test normally takes around 45 minutes so you may want to just wait on site.

If you’re local to us then we can collect your car and return to you with the work completed. We can also drop you home once you’ve delivered the car to us. If your current MOT has expired then you can only drive the vehicle to us if you have a test in place to avoid any penalties. We do offer Vehicle Transportation if you need the vehicle collected from your address.

You may find that it’s cheaper to carry out a Service at the same time as your MOT. Please get in contact to discuss or you can book online via the links.

For any special requests then please get in contact with the garage and we can arrange your MOT and extras.

What Do I Need To Bring?

All you need to bring with you to the garage is the vehicle you’ve booked in for the MOT test! We have access to an online database to access the previous MOT check details. Did you know that you can book your MOT online up to 1 month before your current MOT expires without losing your current expiry date? This will essentially give you 13 months on your MOT instead of 12. Book your MOT online now.

MOT Checklist

Our MOT garage may have to fail a vehicle for a build up of basic points. A lot of the most simple features of a car are often the most essential to pass the MOT check. Why not spend a couple of hours looking over the car before you bring it into the garage to ensure that it doesn’t fail on something you could have changed. Heres a couple of checks to think about before the day.

Windscreen and Wipers

The windscreen is checked for chips and cracks with a maximum 10mm chip in the drivers eye-line. The wipers are checked to ensure good road vision.

Brakes, Wheels and Tyres

The cars braking quality and operation are tested. The tyres are checked to be in a good condition with the correct tyre size and tread depth remaining.

Lights

A simple check before arriving is to ensure that all of your vehicles lights are operational and the correct colour. We will check the aim of the lights are correct.

Registration Plate

The registration plate accounts for around 4% of all fails. Ensure its in a good overall condition with the letters, numbers and spacing adhering to guidelines.

Fluids

Top up all of your cars fluid levels. This includes screenwash, brake fluid and engine oil!

Regular Servicing

We normally find that vehicles that are serviced regularly are more likely to pass the MOT.

Class 4 & Class 7 MOT

Our brand new Bude MOT garage is capable of carrying out MOT checks on class 4 and class 7 vehicles. Class 4 vehicles are your everyday cars and include cars & light vans, ambulances & taxis and private passenger vehicles. A class 7 MOT covers commercial goods vehicles at a much heavier weight; between 3000kg & 3500kg. Not every garage is capable of this test as it requires a much larger test ramp.

The tests for the most part are very similar but as Class 7 vehicles allow for much more weight, we check that the tyres fitted to the vehicle are suitable for the load that they carry. There are also variations in the brake testing as it is classed differently for Class 7 vehicles.
